I did a lot of handwashing with mu first cloth diapering journey. It's fast and you don't have to pile up of machine washing. And we live in the tropics, so lots of sun to dry them. The fear of bugs and mould with pulling up the diapers coupled with electricity is what made me take up hand washing more.

What do figure on cleaning? Cost & extra chore of at home including diaper pre soak washer thingy (my parents had) erses diaper service? I don't think Mum ever washed our cloth in the regular wash but idk

When I make a meatball sub for myself, I buy the best home-made sauce from the local ITALIAN restaurant and market........I'm not crazy about any of those jar sauces, so for a buck or two more I get the best........I like those COOKED PERFECT frozen meatballs, so I heat each item separately in the microwave oven, then they go together for a minute or two more and then in a sub roll with sauce and grated cheese.........When I want it a little more elaborate, I put in chopped onion, fried pieces of green peppers and melted Mozzarella cheese on top......YUM !......

The came out great, thanks. Didn't even need to put them into the oven after.

Rare to find an honest assessment from someone who cloth diapers! I get frustrated when high end cloth diaper companies simply state as fact that using their luxury brand will save you thousands of dollars..It will not, unless you're spending an unnecessary amount on disposables, and it feels exploitative frankly when companies make these claims of guaranteed thousands in savings to people who will have a hard time affording the upfront cost of their product. At best buying a full set of high end diapers new you will break even or save just a bit by the end. Then you will save a lot more the more kids you use them for. If you get lucky and find good deals used or free/handed down or are comfortable using the cheapest end products you'll save a lot more. I didnt find cheap used cloth diapers in my area tho (actually people in my area will try to resell at 60 plus percent full retail, which is crazy to me). And I wanted the easiest systems possible which tend to be slightly spendier. I still want to cloth diaper and feel confident I won't lose money doing so but think we should be honest about doing it primarily bc we want to not because it's a guaranteed massive money saver.

I’m using Charlie banana pocket diapers right now for my grandson. I’m thinking about switching to a double ended pocket opening style diapers. I’m also thinking about getting a stash of aio style diapers too. Because I can’t stick to the same thing I’m always on a quest for something new to try lol

I like your set up. Simple but practical

That strap that hangs once you wear it as a backpack looks kind of weird. Have you tried putting it in the front pocket? Or does it just lay like that? I personally bought it as a tote bag but I like that it can be converted to a backpack. But the strap hanging makes me not want to wear it that way. Anyone else got any ideas how to fix that hanging strap? It looks weird😅

Cloth diapering systems are well made and often you can get them used. Recently bought 58 name brand for $150 which go up to 30 pounds. I think you need to add in laundry costs.

Buying cloth diapers will cost you more up front because the good ones are expensive . The button snap cloth diapers are more convenient than the old school once I used with the safety diaper pins. Cloth diapers like Charlie Banana are extremely absorbent and saves you on diaper rash . One diaper can cost 25.00 but you can buy used ones . A box of 5 cloth diapers is 100.00 if you buy new. I suggest that moms who know the have more than one child you will definitely save. You can save the new ones . Cloth diapers are definitely good to resale . This was a very good video . I just calculated my stash, I've spent $1642 in total. We're prepping for twins. This includes all accessories and wipes. I have a mix of Geffen, Grovia, Thirsties, Romparooz, and wool. I did only covers mixed with prefolds, flats, and doublers. I have about 10 Grovia ONE's but others are hybrids outside of covers. Everything is hemp, bamboo, or cotton mix. I only purchased $175 in used and during crazy sales with at least 30% off. I built a high end, heavy wetter stash for 1/2 of the regular price. I have 45 newborn with 11 covers, and 67 one size with 25 covers. I plan to wash 2-3 times a week.

Some of the popular pocket cloth diapers now (like Nora's nursery, for one) are around $10 per diaper, so $240 for a moderate stash, includes 1 insert per diaper and some of the bundles include a wet bag. So add in about $100 for extra inserts/liners etc, and you're still half the cost of disposables. Where you really need to factor in the difference is with laundry. Recommendations I've seen are to wash every 2-3 days to prevent odors from really setting in. For my household, we already have the laundry loads split so we're doing laundry 2-3x per week, so adding in a diaper load for each laundry day isn't too bad for added chore time. But we'd also be using more detergent, water, and electricity. By my estimate, for our setup/machine, we'd spend an extra $80-100/yr on detergent and other washing products (like when they get stinky and need stripping). Energy depends on how often we hang to dry instead (highly recommended for stain/odor control), so that's a big variable. The added water cost could be a big factor depending on where you live and your specific machine. For us, it's negligible and we can hang to dry often. Also, once you've done your pre-wash getting the solids out, you can do all of baby's other plentiful laundry with the diapers, so you're really just running loads you would've run anyway. So altogether, with extra inserts/gear, and extra detergent x2 yrs (ignoring water/energy due to washing with other clothes, high efficiency machines, and hanging to dry when we can), I get to $550. Still below disposables, but with extra work involved for sure. However, keep in mind that if you plan to have another baby and can reuse the same diapers, you've just cut your diaper cost per child in half. Tl;dr: I get to about $550 for the cost of cloth diapering one child, using pricing for popular pocket diaper brands, factoring in extra inserts/gear and extra detergent products. YMMV.

I’m thankful that I was gifted about 20-25 cloth diapers and 40-50 liners from someone who no longer needed them in a local moms group! I’m hopeful that cloth diapers will help us in the long run, though my fiancé isn’t too keen on the idea of cloth diapering (he thinks its more work/messier than disposables).

How many times did you wash in order to prep?

The flannel prefold holds up to 17 oz as opposed to the 13 oz. of the jersey prefold as per the website. Thanks for the great video!😊
